This Detroit Mixed-Use project focuses on adaptive reuse. Completed buildings have an environmental cost that has already been paid, and so often it is more conscientious to find creative methods for adapting viable existing structures than to construct new buildings.
In this proposal, a large vacant industrial building has been converted into covered parking and an open-to-sky agricultural initiative. The proposed mixed-use itself sports green roofs and a method for collecting, storing, and utilizing rainwater to aid in these plant-focused ideas.
