About this project:
This work is an exploration of how loneliness and isolation can manifest into
depression, which in turn can lead to suicide. The weight of this issue increases daily
as people become more interconnected, and sensations like fearing missing out or
serially worrying about one’s perception are damaging young minds. These photos
seek to capture this downward spiral experienced by too many and awaken the reader
to how damaging this is.
A variety of methods have been implemented within these photos, attempting to
capture this sensation. Gradual reddening of color serves to reinforce severity.
Changing in darkness and weight of subject matter gives the reader a view of these
steps. Quotes accompanying each image give an opportunity for reflection into each
photograph’s meaning.
Please be aware that the contents of this work are graphic and may disturb some.
It is my hope that this will help build awareness of these issues.
Help them.
